We carried out a complete redesign, rebrand and refurbishment of the run-down 1970s Caloundra City Centre Motel. Located in the heart of Caloundra, we have delivered a sustainable, city-centre boutique motel offering a range of elegantly appointed bedrooms.
The Challenge
A 1970s motel in central Caloundra was underperforming significantly — strong bones and an excellent city-centre location, but decades of deferred maintenance and an outdated aesthetic were driving guests away.
Our Approach
A sustainability-led refurbishment programme incorporating solar power, water-saving systems and low-impact materials was developed. All 10 rooms were individually redesigned, and the property was repositioned as a conscious-travel boutique experience — aiming to become the Sunshine Coast's first net-zero energy hotel.
The Outcome
Motel Caloundra's sustainable credentials became a genuine point of difference, attracting media coverage from Visit Sunshine Coast and The Hotel Conversation. The asset valuation grew from $2M to $3.4M post-renovation.
